Feeding the People of Haiti One Family at a Time
Allows every individual, family or group to participate in disaster relief after the Haiti earthquake. As you shop and pack your bucket, you can be praying for the Haitian family that will receive it. The food inside will feed that family for approximately one week, and the bucket can be used for many things into the future!
The buckets must be packed with the specific list of items, following the detailed instructions so that all of the buckets can pass quickly through customs and into the hands of the Haitian people. The cost of the bucket and food items is approximately $30 and you are also asked to provide $10* to cover shipping costs.

Important for PBC (& helpful hints):
- $10 Shipping Costs - The national instructions ask you to enclose $10 cash, in an envelope, taped to the top of the bucket. You can still do that, if you wish. We prefer that you enclose a check for $10 to Pleasantview Baptist Church (you can put "Buckets of Hope" on the memo line). PBC will be sending one check with all of the buckets
- Buckets of Hope Display - Examples of all of the items and printed copies of the detailed instructions can be found in the Buckets of Hope display located outside the Worship Center to the south
- Filled Buckets - can be left next to the Buckets of Hope Display by Wednesday, March 10
- Food Item Hints:
- All of the items in the display were purchased at Walmart in Derby
- Black beans (or red beans) - if you have difficulty finding the 2-lb bags, try the ethnic foods section of the store. If you just cannot find 2-lb. bags, (4) 1-lb. bags can probably be packed in the same amount of room
- Sugar - Lisa found the 20 oz cylinders of sugar at Derby Wal-Mart on the top shelf of the sugar section
- Ziplock Bags - if you do not wish to purchase a box of the 2-gallon bags, check the church office.
- If you would like assistance in filling your bucket properly, or have any other questions, please contact Lisa Beets (phone 788-7596)
